What is Restoration? Conserving .as much of the original finish and elements as possible while restoring lustre and and repairing damage. The health of the item is the number one priority. Retaining the inherent value is a most important part of this process.
Cree Studios Restoration Bids are based on time and materials. Bids occur in two stages - partial bid upon first examining the piece, then a more accurate bid as we diagnose the issues involved in restoring the object. With some pieces we find a Pandora’s box, for example, silicone impregnation in common polishing products is one of the conditions that can make restoration timely and difficult. Client will be informed throughout diagnosis and process.
Refinishing is most often done on newer pieces of furniture when appraisal value isn’t an issue. It's always best to restore an important piece because refinishing any antique will reduce it its' value significantly.
Don't make these common mistakes - stripping, sanding or adding a non-original finish to your valuable antique which results in lost value.
