Peter Cree is a fine art woodworker whose work is influenced by a wide range of art and culture. Incorporating elements of joinery, carving and sculpture, each piece is unique.

Technical Notes Peter uses some power machinery, such as a 4 inch grinder, table saw, edge jointer and power plane to shape the basic flitch - a raw slab of wood. From there he uses traditional hand tools like antique planes, a lathe, mallet and chisels.

Most joinery is mortise and tenon with hardwood pins. Legs are sometimes joined with a hand brace and Irwin bits. The goal is a synthesis of the best historic and current design techniques.
